Who to Vaccinate

  • Everyone 6 months to 5 yrs old & 50+ yrs old
  • Women who will be pregnant during the influenza season
  • Anyone with chronic pulmonary, cardiovascular, metabolic or renal disease (including asthma, diabetes; not including hypertension)
  • Anyone with any of the following chronic issues:
    • hemoglobinopathies
    • immunodeficiency (HIV, chronic steroids, immunosuppressants)
    • taking long-term aspirin therapy (if 6 months-18 yrs old)
  • Anyone with a condition that can compromise respiratory function or clearance of respiratory secretions
    • cognitive dysfunction
    • spinal cord injuries
    • seizure disorders
    • other neuromuscular disorders
  • Nursing home residents and other chronic-care medical facilities
  • Health-care workers
  • Healthy household contacts and caregivers of children aged 0-59 months and persons at high risk for severe complications from influenza
