Adverse Reactions

  • Vaccine CANNOT cause influenza.
  • Local reaction: Soreness at the vaccination site lasting < 2 days.  Typically mild.
  • Systemic reaction: most common in first time vaccinees
    • Fever, malaise, myalgia, headache
    • Begin 6-12 hours after vaccine and last 1-2 days
  • Allergic reactions (hives, angioedema, bronchospasm, anaphylaxis) - rare
