OK. Here's the dilemma. Important
information changes quickly. Changes are made to the call
schedule. Dr. James dropped his beeper in the toilet and now
has a new beeper number. The speaker for the Grand Rounds
scheduled for this Wednesday has been changed. The GI
department now wants patients coming for colonoscopy to switch to
a different bowel prep. Things change
quickly and you want everyone to be up-to-date. E-mail is a
good way to spread late breaking information but what about the
90% of the time when your people are away from their computer (ie.
when they're seeing patients)?
What if every person in your organization could
have the most recent information always available to them on their
Palm OS or PocketPC PDA?
The information you could distribute this way is
limited only by your needs and your imagination. Some
possibilities include:
- Call schedules
- Contact lists (beeper numbers)
- Consultant lists
- Pharmacy formulary information
- Patient instructions / pre-procedure
preparation
- Conference schedules
- Protocols and procedures
- Employee handbook
